Comments about Tutoring:
Tutoring is a rewarding activity for Student and Instructor. All feedback has been very positive. Recently, as part of my Session, I was asked to help download music from a CD to an I-Pod. So I "Googled" it and printed out the 5 steps of how to do it. We both learned some thing new. I asked for comments from others which now follow:

Jerry,
When the one-on-one tutoring classes were offered I felt it was a new beginning for me. During my earlier class instructions I did learn a variety of programs. However, many times after class I was unable to practice what I had been taught. The new tutoring program: one-on-one, teacher-student now offers me the opportunity to select the instructors and subjects I needed to completely understand and successfully use.
I have attended several one-on-one classes. My instructors: Carolyn Fisher, Blanchette Baily, and Jim Evans. Subjects: Photo Gallery and Picasa. With each instructor, my questions were answered, the exercises repeated until I was certain how to use on my own.
This type of instruction has proven to be a faster way for me to learn and retain what I was taught. Now I have more of an incentive to practice and use what I had learned.
I hope my comments will encourage many Bridgewater residents to join our, "Fun with Learning Classes", we welcome all.
Student,
Shirley
Hi Jerry,
I had two experiences with the tutoring program, one as a student and one as a tutor. In my student session I set up an ebay account and a pen pal account with Jerry's help. Although my actual goal is to be able to sell online, Jerry was able to further that project because it was a one on one session. If there had been others trying to learn to buy on line, my needs would not have been as well met. The second meeting was with a student who wanted to learn how to scan pictures into her computer. We worked on it together, and even though I am no expert, I think the hour was successful.

Good morning Jerry,
The time was well-spent. The more we delved into the problem, the more I realized how much there was to learn. It was a collaborative and also enjoyable session.
Recently Adrienne and I got together to work on some issues that I was experiencing with e-mails. We explored problems that I was having sending photos or finding specific photos that I had wanted to share. We were able to explore several possibilities, some leading to answers, and some opening new , and interesting, issues.
The time was well-spent. The more we delved into the problem, the more I realized how much there was to learn. It was a collaborative and also enjoyable session.

I've had two Tutoring sessions. One with you on setting up a Pay Pall account, checking out the best buy for my items on eBay and Amazon and actually ordering the items. I would not have done so on my own for the first time. I have since purchased three more items successfully. Having you teach me step by step gave me the confidence to go for it.
My second session was on Scanning. Blanche and I had the computer room to ourselves. It was quiet. We took our time and did the process three times. I do believe I could and would try the process by myself. It was fun, quick learning.
I hope this is what you wanted.

Hello Jerry,
Kind Regards,
I worked one-on-one with Art Azevedo recently to gain a clear understanding of Folders and Files.
This turned out to be a real eye opener for me and a valuable lesson in the power and luxury of a one-on-one lesson. Why?
1. I had the opportunity to work individually with a knowledgeable instructor who really has a clear understanding of how this "magic" works in our computers and he was able to concentrate just on little old me.
2. As much fun as it is to learn in a small group of like-minded computer buddies, the one-on-one attention allowed me to stay focused and have the opportunity to ask questions as issues were raised that pertain to my interests and issues and it allowed Art to stay on topic too. Time was not wasted; this is the best way to learn and an efficient use of my time.
3. The time flew by and I had the chance to dig deeper into the issue at hand instead of just learning the so called basics of the subject.
4. There was an opportunity to practice the subject and make corrections on the spot without being concerned about taking time from the other students.
5. Most important of all, I left the Sr. Center confident that with some at home practice, I could safely manage to organize my documents into files and folders that make sense to me and are easy to manage.
Additional Comments: In my experience with other club members, I have realized that because many of them do not practice at home what they have been tutored individually, that we end up repeating over and over again the same material. Like the other "Tutors", I am happy to repeat the same material.
Thanks for the wonderful opportunity today. I truly appreciate the chance to learn more about the magic of computers and all they can do!
Kind Regards,
Adrienne
